Scroller Screensaverversion 2.0, 2006-08-15Scroller is a deceptively simple Windows screensaver that takes a web page and scrolls it up your screen. This allows you to have your favourite blog, news site, photo site or literally anything else on the web displayed as your screensaver. If you're part of a team, whether for business or pleasure, Scroller is an ideal way to share information - simply have all the members of your team point their Scroller screensaver to the same internet (or intranet) web page, and whenever you update that page with current team news, project status, your latest sales figures, or anything else, everyone will see it next time their screensaver starts up. As with earlier versions, Scroller 2.0 also allows you to have the contents of a plain text file scrolling as your screensaver - but now that Scroller is web-enabled, why not add some zip to that text file wth some HTML formatting? Now you can add different fonts, background images, photos, animated GIFs, even Flash animations. Screenshots: Here's an example of what Scroller looks like when running, pointing at Digg:
System Requirements: Scroller runs on versions of Windows from 95 onwards, including 95, 98, NT and XP. Because it uses Internet Explorer to download and display web pages, for full functionality and reliability you should also have Internet Explorer 6 or later installed. If you have Internet Explorer 5 or earlier, Scroller will still work correctly with most web pages, but will either crash or scroll incorrectly with other web pages (this depends on whether the page uses standards-compliant HTML or relies on older compatibility modes). Users of older versions of Internet Explorer should therefore upgrade to version 6 or later to get the full benefits of Scroller 2.0. Download: scroller.zip (179k)
Registration: Scroller is distributed as shareware. This means that while you are welcome to test and evaluate the downloaded version of Scroller for as long as you want, you should pay for it if you decide you like it. On paying, you become a registered user, and you also get a special code that removes the limitations of the unregistered version. Click the 'RegNow' logo below to register:
